George Clooney Reveals How He Handled Protesters During Broadway Showhttps://edition.cnn.com/20

Hollywood star George Clooney recently opened up about how he tackled political hecklers during the Broadway run of Good Night, and Good Luck, which concluded its successful performance schedule this past Sunday.

In an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Clooney described how protesters—both conservative and liberal—interrupted the show. Rather than ignore them or react emotionally, he stayed in character and responded with a calm yet powerful message.

Clooney, who played iconic journalist Edward R. Murrow, said his go-to line was:

“As a reporter, I’ve covered protests. I believe our nation was founded on protest and in the great traditions of the First Amendment and the Constitution, I hope you feel satisfied with your protest — and now, you’ll sit down and let everybody else…”

The actor explained that this method worked effectively because it acknowledged the right to protest while respecting the experience of others in the audience.

“It’s hard to really argue against speaking truth to power,” Clooney said, noting how both political sides often resist being challenged.

Good Night, and Good Luck—which Clooney originally directed as a film in 2005—remains a timely and potent production, especially in today’s polarized political climate. Clooney’s ability to diffuse tension with grace and respect echoes the very themes of press freedom and civil discourse that the play aims to highlight.

His measured approach not only diffused the disturbances but also reinforced the enduring power of staying composed in moments of public conflict.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DLcLSMsuow
