Netflix has finally released all six episodes of Squid Game Season 3, bringing a dark, emotional conclusion to the story of Gi-hun and the deadly game. The new season delivers sacrifices, betrayals, and a shocking twist that hints at the game expanding worldwide on the Netflix streaming platform.
A New Twist in the Final Episode
The biggest surprise comes in the last episode. Cate Blanchett makes a cameo appearance as a recruiter in Los Angeles. Her character is seen playing ddakji with a potential contestant, suggesting that a similar death game is being prepared in the United States. This sets up a possible spinoff or future season set outside Korea.
Alliances and Betrayals
Throughout Season 3, players are divided into two factions: Knives, who must kill to survive, and Keys, who must avoid death.
- Jun-hee, Hyun-ju, and Geum-ja form a fragile alliance.
- Jun-hee gives birth during the game, and Hyun-ju protects her until she is murdered by Myung-gi.
- Geum-ja later kills her own son to save Jun-hee and the baby, in one of the season’s most heartbreaking moments.
Gi-hun’s Transformation and Revenge
Gi-hun begins the season trying to remain moral. But after losing his friends, he grows increasingly violent.
- He blames Dae-ho for the failed rebellion and kills him.
- He witnesses Seon-nyeo die after being betrayed by Player 100.
- Min-su kills her while hallucinating.
- Geum-ja eventually takes her own life, begging Gi-hun to protect the baby.
The Newborn Joins the Game
In a shocking twist, after Jun-hee dies in the jump rope round, her newborn baby is assigned her number as Player 222. This gives Gi-hun a deeper reason to survive and try to win, carrying the child as he advances.
Who Is the Front Man?
Front Man In-ho finally reveals himself directly to Gi-hun. He offers him a knife and suggests killing other players in their sleep. Gi-hun refuses, determined not to become like In-ho. Flashbacks reveal that In-ho himself won the game decades earlier using those same tactics.
The Final Game and the Winner
The last challenge takes place on towering platforms. To advance, another player must die. Gi-hun, Myung-gi, and the baby reach the final stage. Myung-gi dies, leaving Gi-hun and the infant as the last survivors.
The baby ultimately wins the game.
Shortly after, the Coast Guard arrives, led by Jun-ho. In-ho flees, destroying evidence and evacuating the island. Months later, Jun-ho finds the child and the prize money waiting at his home, left there by In-ho with the hope the baby will have a better life.
No-eul’s Journey and the Final Scene
Meanwhile, No-eul, a former soldier hiding among the players, helps Player 246 escape and destroys key evidence. She later learns her daughter might be alive in China, and she departs to search for her.
The season’s last scene shows Cate Blanchett’s recruiter preparing to launch the deadly game in America. Gi-hun’s final words echo as the credits roll:
“We are not horses. We are human beings.”
What Comes Next?
Netflix hasn’t confirmed a U.S. spinoff yet, but the ending strongly suggests Squid Game will expand internationally. With the baby survivor and new recruiters, the franchise’s future could be even darker and more ambitious.
