Hold Tory Lanez in Contempt, Judge Urged Over Deposition Behavior

Megan Thee Stallion’s legal team has filed a motion to hold Tory Lanez in contempt, citing behavior they describe as “disruptive, inflammatory, and inconsistent with basic civil procedure” during a deposition related to her ongoing civil lawsuit. The motion claims the rapper, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, openly mocked the legal process, insulted attorneys, and dodged basic questions — prompting a call for court intervention.

Disruptive Conduct During Deposition

According to the motion filed by Megan’s attorney, Tory Lanez repeatedly acted as if he didn’t understand simple legal terms such as “discuss” or “approve.” Even more concerning was his alleged personal attack on Megan’s attorney, reportedly mocking her appearance and suggesting she bring a hairbrush next time.

Such remarks were seen as not only unprofessional but deliberately inflammatory — a violation of expected courtroom decorum and a direct challenge to the seriousness of the civil litigation process.

The Milagro Cooper Defamation Case

The deposition is part of a broader civil case Megan has filed against blogger Milagro Cooper, who allegedly shared defamatory content, deepfake pornographic videos, and false claims on behalf of Tory Lanez. Cooper’s actions, according to the suit, were part of a broader strategy to harass and discredit Megan following the high-profile criminal case.

Lanez’s Legal Representation Dispute

Further complicating matters, Tory Lanez’s legal team from his criminal trial — which resulted in his 10-year prison sentence — clarified via email that they are not representing him in this civil matter. They indicated they would not oppose any court motion to hold Tory Lanez in contempt if brought forward by Megan’s lawyers.

This position, according to legal experts, effectively leaves Lanez exposed to sanctions or penalties should the judge agree that his deposition conduct violated legal norms.

Background: Criminal Conviction and Restraining Order

Lanez is currently serving a 10-year sentence after being convicted in 2022 for negligent discharge of a firearm, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and carrying an unregistered loaded firearm — all related to the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. In early January 2025, Megan was granted a restraining order, citing ongoing emotional distress and a lack of peace since the shooting incident.

Ongoing Legal Fallout

With the criminal case behind him but the civil lawsuits gaining momentum, Lanez finds himself in deepening legal trouble. His behavior during depositions may not only hurt his public image further but also land him in additional legal jeopardy if the court decides to penalize him for contempt.

As of now, Lanez and his current legal representatives have not issued a response regarding the contempt motion. However, the court’s decision on whether to hold Tory Lanez in contempt could have serious implications for the rest of the case.
