Scorpions Cancel Shows as Klaus Meine Battles Bronchitis
Legendary rock band Scorpions have been forced to cancel multiple shows on their 2025 tour after frontman Klaus Meine was diagnosed with bacterial bronchitis, leaving him “unable to sing.”
The group initially postponed their April 26 performance in Buenos Aires, citing a suspected case of laryngitis. However, follow-up cancellations in Bogotá and most recently in Quito, Ecuador on May 3 revealed a more serious issue.
According to the band’s official statement, the 76-year-old singer has not recovered from the virus and has now been diagnosed with bacterial bronchitis, impacting his ability to perform. No injuries were reported, but the group expressed deep regret to fans across South America.
2025: A Tumultuous Anniversary Tour
This year was supposed to mark a milestone for the Scorpions — their 60th anniversary. Instead, the tour has been riddled with setbacks. Earlier in the year, their Las Vegas residency was postponed due to drummer Mikkey Dee’s recovery from life-threatening sepsis.
Meanwhile, former guitarist Michael Schenker reignited a family feud by publicly refusing to rejoin the band for the tour, citing his brother and current guitarist Rudolf Schenker as “abusive” and a “bully.”
Despite these hurdles, the band is still scheduled to perform on May 6 and 8 in Mexico, followed by a brief pause before resuming their European tour in June, with U.S. dates set for August.
Fans hope Meine’s condition improves in time to meet the band’s remaining commitments and that their milestone tour can return to form.
