Samar Jafri, one of Pakistan’s most promising young stars, is back in the spotlight—this time not on screen, but through speakers. The actor-turned-musician surprised fans with the unannounced release of his latest single, Hoor—a hauntingly poetic track about love, beauty, and letting go.

Known for his breakout performances in Parwarish and Na Baligh Afraad, Jafri says Hoor is one of his most personal works yet. “The inspiration came suddenly,” he shares. “I was at a café with a friend when someone walked in, and the word that instantly struck me was hoor. That’s where the song was born.”

The creative process was just as spontaneous. Jafri headed straight to the studio, poured his thoughts out to his producer, and within hours, had the foundations of Hoor—a song rooted in emotion, experience, and raw expression.

“I had everything in my mind already. I went up to the terrace with my diary and just started writing,” he says. “The whole song is what I felt in that moment.”

Among the lyrics, one line holds special significance for him: “Kismat meri, khel rahi thi majboori se meri” (My fate was playing with my helplessness). “It’s deeply personal. I think many people can relate to that feeling of being powerless in front of destiny,” he adds.

Stylistically, the Hoor music video stands out with its vintage aesthetic—framed like an old TV screen and deliberately grainy. “The song takes you back to the late ‘80s or ‘90s, and I wanted the video to feel like you’re watching it on an old-school television,” Jafri explains. “It’s nostalgic, imperfect, but intentional.”

Though he continues to earn praise for his acting roles, Jafri is clear about where his heart lies. “Music gives me a freedom that acting doesn’t,” he admits. “With acting, you’re performing someone else’s words and ideas. With music, it’s mine. I write it, I feel it, and I share it.”

He candidly reveals that while acting can feel like a contractual obligation, songwriting is therapeutic. “I can create three songs in one day, but I can’t do three acting projects in a day. Music is personal. It’s my truth.”

Looking ahead, fans can expect more music from him. “There are many songs ready. Maybe an EP, not sure about a full album yet. But something is definitely coming.”

So, is Samar Jafri a singer who acts or an actor who sings?

“I don’t label myself,” he says. “I’m an artist. I never wanted to be known as just an actor who sings on the side. Music was always my first love. I’m grateful people are embracing both sides of me now.”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Jmeg6nK0Y8
