Katie Price Says Cosmetic Surgery Criticism Has Discouraged Daughter Princess From Following Her Path
Katie Price cosmetic surgery backlash has had a deeper impact than many may have realized. The former glamour model and reality TV star recently opened up about how constant public scrutiny and media attacks on her appearance have discouraged her 17-year-old daughter, Princess, from ever considering similar procedures.
Speaking ahead of her appearance in an Easter pantomime in Clacton-on-Sea, Price told BBC Essex that while she owns her decisions, the judgment she faces has had consequences for her family.
“She says, ‘Mum, you don’t need it. You were so pretty,’” Price shared. “And I tell her, ‘No, I look awful.’”
Price, now 46, first entered the spotlight in the 1990s as a model under the name Jordan and quickly became a tabloid fixture. Over the years, she’s undergone multiple cosmetic procedures, including breast augmentations, facelifts, and liposuction.
Despite her fame, she said she has never viewed herself as beautiful.
“I’ve never thought I was pretty. If I had, I wouldn’t keep doing this stuff to myself,” she admitted.
While her modeling career predates the social media age, Price noted that today’s digital platforms have amplified the pressure on public figures—and ordinary users alike. She criticized the prevalence of airbrushing and filters for distorting beauty standards.
“With social media, anyone can change how they look. But I’ll admit, I get work done, and at least I own it,” she said.
Price also addressed her relationship with the media, claiming that negative headlines are often used as clickbait to attract traffic, further shaping public perception unfairly.
“People judge me through the media without ever meeting me. That’s difficult,” she said.
She expressed concern over how both traditional and modern media influence self-esteem and body image, especially among younger audiences. Still, she praised her daughter Princess for having strong self-awareness and confidence.
“She’s absolutely beautiful and doesn’t need anything done. I hope she holds on to that.”
