Ashley Tisdale has firmly denied reports of a so-called “toxic” group chat involving fellow early-2000s stars Mandy Moore and Hilary Duff. In a recent statement, the actress and singer called the rumors “completely false” and reaffirmed her close, decades-long bond with both women.
The speculation began after an anonymous social media post claimed the trio’s private messages were filled with tension, jealousy, and passive-aggressive remarks. However, Tisdale swiftly shut down the narrative. “Mandy, Hilary, and I have nothing but love and respect for each other,” she said. “We’ve known each other since we were teenagers. These stories are pure fiction.”
She emphasized that while they don’t chat daily, their friendship remains strong. “We support each other’s careers, families, and milestones,” Tisdale added. “If anything, our group texts are full of memes, baby photos, and ‘how are you really?’ check-ins.”
All three women rose to fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s—Duff as Lizzie McGuire, Moore with hits like “Candy” and films like A Walk to Remember, and Tisdale as Sharpay Evans in High School Musical. Despite occasional media attempts to frame them as rivals, they’ve repeatedly dismissed such narratives over the years.
In fact, Moore and Duff publicly congratulated Tisdale on her recent music comeback. Similarly, Tisdale has praised Moore’s work on This Is Us and Duff’s role in How I Met Your Father. Their mutual support, insiders say, contradicts any notion of animosity.
Tisdale also noted that false rumors often stem from outdated interviews or misinterpreted moments. “People love to create drama where there isn’t any,” she said. “But we’ve always rooted for each other—even when the spotlight wasn’t on all of us at once.”
The denial comes amid renewed interest in 2000s pop culture, with reboots, reunions, and nostalgia-driven content flooding streaming platforms. Unfortunately, this surge has also revived baseless gossip.
Fans responded quickly to Tisdale’s clarification, flooding social media with messages of support. Many pointed out that the three stars have never publicly feuded—and have even attended each other’s life events, from baby showers to album launches.
As of now, neither Moore nor Duff has commented directly on the rumor. However, sources close to both women confirm they find the claims laughable. One insider said, “They’ve been through the industry together since they were kids. They know how silly these stories sound.”
Ultimately, Tisdale hopes the focus returns to their work—not manufactured drama. “We’re moms, artists, and friends,” she said. “That’s the real story.”
